Class Teacher – Mr Whaite
Teaching assistants – Mrs Chapman and Mrs Arrowsmith
Welcome to a brand new year in Year 3! Our topic for this half term (1a) is “Scrumdiddlyumptious”! We will be learning all about healthy food, the different types of food and what it can do for our bodies to keep us fit and strong. The book we will be reading is “Charlie and the chocolate factory” by Roald Dahl – one of my favourites!
Swimming will be every Wednesday morning (starting 12th September 2018), so please ensure correct kits are brought in. If there are any questions or concerns regarding swimming, please see myself, Mrs Flint or Mrs Rimmer for further information. PE this half term (1a) will be on Thursdays, so please ensure long hair is tied back, jewellery is removed and the correct kit is in school.
Spellings will given out every Friday for a test the following Thursday. Times tables will also be tested each week so we would encourage you to practise as much as you can at home: Year 3 are expected to know 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 8x and 10x tables. Regular practise in short bursts is ideal (during the ad breaks, on the way to school maybe?), encouraging rapid recall of facts (you could even make it into a competition – who can be the fastest?)
Thank you for your continuing support with homework tasks. We love seeing all of your amazing efforts each week!
I am always available in the playground at the end of the day if anyone has anything they wish to discuss.
Mr Whaite, Mrs Chapman and Mrs Arrowsmith
